Coach David Marsh begins with an overview of the foundation of fast freestyle, reviewing proper body positioning, the catch, pull and recovery. Marsh introduces two varieties of drills he feels are essential for building a faster freestyle: Breakdown Drills that isolate specific stroke components and Flow Drills that connect the isolated components into full fluid and flowing motions of the stroke. Throughout these drills, Marsh shares tips that will help you implement the components for fast freestyle. Marsh's cutting edge instruction presents the latest stroke techniques that the world's fastest swimmers are implementing including how to set a high elbow catch, the three-quarter catch up concept, tips for finding the optimal recovery for your stroke whether it be the traditional high elbow recovery or a more "open" recovery, and the flat body position that have helped Marsh's Auburn swimmers shatter NCAA freestyle records in individual and relay events.
